OHCHS Students of the Month Selection Process

An explanation of the SOM program.

The Students of the Month program is sponsored by Oxford Hills Rotary Club.  Each month during the school year, high school staff members nominate students whom they feel have "made a difference" in their classrooms.  The goal is to reward teamwork, positive behavior, extra effort, and good student citizenship.  A committee reviews the nominations each month and chooses one student from each grade who is then invited by the O.H. Rotary Club to a breakfast meeting.  Students are also invited to a special lunch with their principals.

The Students of the Month program is coordinated by Maureen Mooney-Howard, Director of the Oxford Hills Community Education Exchange, and is part of the Character Education curriculum at the high school.  Each month, the chosen students' names and picture are placed on a plaque that hangs in the hallway across from the school's Media Center.
